Dear All
The following passage is from an erudite little book called 'The Spirit of Peace' by Jean Watson, 2001. The book was given to me by my granddaughter.
In the opening page, the author writes, "In William Goldings Novel The Paper Men, I came across this thumbnail sketch of a minor character in the story:
'She had a kind of security - that kind which stems perhaps from getting on very well without some of our less attractive qualities, such as the need for revenge, more success than other people, protection from other people or indifference to them. I remember ending our time together envying her bitterly. The things you could see that woman had no need of!'
"Such people are not necessarily placid by temperament; nor are they lazy and uncaring. But they do, in a sense, not care over much about 'what teacher says' or what the 'Joneses next door' possess. They are free from addiction and self-obsessed competitiveness; from knee-jerk reactions, crippling anxieties and fears. WATSON, 2001
The year 2001 was a milestone for me; I walked through the the gate of love and began my life over again. Ten years have passed - a whole decade and time enough to have learned many things not least the joy of being. You might remember this quotation from somewhere else,
"Allow love, trust and total surrender to flood your being, until they become part of all you are." ALMINE, 2009
In 2001, I did just that. I allowed 'love, trust and total surrender to flood my being' and was reborn into a new world. Today, I glimpse another truth in relation to the beautiful Indigo Child who saved my life than and who is now and always a source of magic and joy to those who love her.*
'No garden truly blooms until butterflies have danced on it'. D'ANGELO
I leave you to dovetail these words into the context of your own life-journey and thereby reflect on the contribution to your happiness and wellbeing of all those you love (and who have loved you) throughout eternity.
Now,
here's a beautiful poem that describes the 'flight fantastic' that a poet experienced. Maybe some of you have been there, too. Again, I thank Lorraine Nicholson for giving me permission to reproduce her work.
Without more ado, I invite you to savour a Scottish poet's brave new world; linger awhile on her spiritual rebirth; spread your gossamer wings and fly with her.
Flight Fantastic
by
Lorraine Nicholson
Emerging from the darkened caverns of the mind
To embrace a light so directional and bright.
A chrysalis once, a butterfly now,
Wings unfolded, taking flight.
A flight not of escape but of liberation.
Brave New World.
What a day, what a night, what a life!
Experiencing a spiritual rebirth,
Breathing a passionate air into my lungs once again,
Like a stiff, bracing breeze energizing the soul.
Life is in my eyes once again.
The window on the soul expresses the happiness within.
A childish enthusiasm fills all my days now.
Reawakened, impassioned and wide-eyed as I go out into the world once more.
The freedom of flight is mine now
To land at will wherever fancy takes me
To touch the lives of fellow creative souls
And deliver the message of beauty
In this oft dark world in which we live.
The flight of the butterfly is one to relish.
Spread your gossamer wings and fly…
And so, always remember ...
'No garden truly blooms until butterflies have danced on it.'
I'll speak with you soon when you will be welcomed once more into my secret garden. At our next meeting, I will be referencing the practice of Mindfulness in schools.
Meanwhile, here's a short printable document which will tell you more about the Wee Highlander, Lorraine Nicholson. This download is about her recovery from depression in real time - nothing virtual about it! Click here to Download Lorraine Nicholson pdf.
Best Wishes

FOOTNOTE
*An Indigo Child is one who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes and shows a pattern of behaviour generally undocumented before. Here are four traits of these special children:
(1) they come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it);
(2) they have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice);
(3) they get frustrated with systems that are ritual oriented and don't require creative thought.
(4) they aren't shy about letting you know what they need.
Indigo Children are bright, intuitive, and strong-willed. They are often perfectionists, and they can be very hard on themselves. For guidance for you and your Indigo Children, the work of Doreen Virtue PhD explores the psyche of these special kids. This is based on her extensive research and interviews with child-care experts, teachers, parents, and the Indigo Children themselves.
Doreen Virtue answers the question, 'What can we do to help the children born after 1980 - the Indigo Children?' These children are different from any generation we have yet seen - more challenging, more intelligent, more confrontational, more intuitive and more spiritual - and this calls for a new and different way of parenting and schooling - outside of the old ways.

A PERSONAL MESSAGE re A FLIGHT FANTASTIC
'I want to sing like birds sing, not worrying who listens or what they think.'
TO: An Indigo Child
If you can sing your song with that attitude, you are participating in the Law of Detachment, and nothing will be able to stop the force of your intentions.
• Practice detached involvement. Stay alert to the opportunity within every problem by letting go of your idea of how things should be.• Accept uncertainty as an essential part of your experience. In your willingness to accept uncertainty, solutions will spontaneously appear.
• Remain open to all possibilities and enjoy every moment in the journey of your life — all the fun, mystery, and magic in the field of pure potentiality.
