Dear Friends
Welcome ... to Café Cloud.
Marianne Williamson wrote, "I know what this book has given to me. I smile at the thought of what it can give to you."
There is no doubt that A Course in Miracles has been a treasure house of wisdom for millions of people around the world since its publication in 1976. The reason is simple: the book deals directly with the root causes of human suffering and proposes the means through which we can return to our natural state of wholeness and peace. Another treasure is Gifts from a Course in Miracles which contains nuggets of truth that can indeed change your life.
Recently, I was locked into a vivid and disturbing dream which caused me and those around me great distress. I needed reminding (as may you) that from our sleeping dreams we learn that our minds have the ability to create worlds that, while we remain asleep, seem completely real and appear to be outside us. Yet all the people and things in these dreams are actually creations of our own minds that we mistook for objective reality. It is only when we awaken that we recognise that none of the events that seemed to happen in the dream ever occurred.
Like the deepest teachings of the great religions, the Course in Miracles emphasizes that what we call "reality" is also a dream — a dream from which we have not yet awakened and hence do not recognize. The aim is to help us recognize our dreams and illusions and to awaken from them.
Dreams ... from Café Cloud.
"Dreams show you that you have the power to make a world as you would have it be, and that, because you want it, you see it. And while you see it you do not doubt that it is real. Yet here is a world, clearly within your mind, that seems to be outside.
"What you seem to waken to is but another form of this same world you see in dreams. All your time is spent in dreaming. Your sleeping and your waking dreams have different forms, and that is all. In dreams effect and cause are interchanged, for here the maker of the dreams believes that what he made is happening to him.
"The miracle establishes you dream a dream, and that its content is not true. This is a crucial step in dealing with illusions. No one is afraid of them when she perceives she made them up. The fear was held in place because she did not see that she was author of the dream, and not a figure in the dream.
"The first change, before dreams disappear, is that your dreams of fear are changed to happy dreams. Forgiving dreams are kind to everyone who figures in the dream. And so they bring the dreamer full release from dreams of fear. Do not forget that your will has power over all fantasies and dreams. Trust it to see you through and carry you beyond them all.
"Let not some dreams be more acceptable, reserving shame and secrecy for others. They are one. And being one, one question should be asked of all of them, "Is this what I would have in place of Heaven and the peace of God?" This is the choice you make. Be not deceived for it is otherwise. No compromise is possible in this. You choose God's peace, or you have asked for dreams.
"To mean you want the peace of God is to renounce all dreams. For no one means these words who wants illusions, and who therefore seeks the means which brings illusions. She has looked on them, and found them wanting. Now she seeks to go beyond them, recognizing that another dream would offer nothing more than all the others. The end of dreaming is the end of fear.
"Now I see that I need only truth. In that all needs are satisfied, all cravings end, all hopes are finally fulfilled and dreams are gone." Vaughan & Walsh (1995)
Entertaining Angels. ... in Café Cloud.
I end today's weblog by reaching out to a ninety-year-old gentleman who was travelling alone on Flight No. TCX 6023 from Tenerife to Newcastle last Tuesday evening. Throughout the four-hour journey, he and I shared our memories of holidays with loved ones past and present and much else besides. Yet again, I am reminded of these words from the Peace Troubadour, James Twyman:
"Don't forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some have entertained angels without knowing it. Imagine what would happen if we treated everyone we met like an angel. I mean ... really treating every person who steps into our lives as sent by Heaven! Everything we experience would change, and the entire world would change as well." TWYMAN, 2012
I can't think of a better message to share right now than one related to signing a petition related to global oneness. But first, here's another link I know you will enjoy - just click for Entertaining Angels sung by James Twyman.
In peace,
Marian

Fundamental realizations are often gift-wrapped in a crises. If we can fully grasp their meaning, we need not suffer their drama again. KRAMER, 2012
