Hi all
I have been asked to promote an event that is happening at Newcastle University. Some of you may already know about it and be attending. It is a 2-days Hackathon: Creating Digital Experiences for Understanding Self-Harm will be taking place on the weekend of April 16-17 at the Devonshire Building, Newcastle University. More information on how to get there can be found here: http://self-harmony.co.uk/#Location ; attached you may find a city centre/campus map.

An invitation to you ... to spread the word:
Spirituality in Mental Health North East (SIMHNE)
- 7 July 2015
- Dear Friends
SIMHNE - OPEN FOR BUSINESS SINCE 2009
See below for sight of a useful article on the affects of adversity in childhood. This issue was also covered at the recent open meeting of SIMHNE. Thank you SIMHNE and Dr. Janis Smith for another memorable talk, one backed up by good science, long experience and sound common sense.
Childhood, disrupted by Donna Jackson Nakazawa. Adversity in childhood can create long-lasting scars, damaging our cells and our DNA, and making us sick as adults http://aeon.co/magazine/psychology/how-childhood-biography-shapes-adult-biology/
I also enjoyed the related talk from friends at 'Capacitar', this on the subject of 'Tools for Wellbeing,' such as meditation and mindfulness. This too pressed all the right buttons for a rapt audience who tried out a range of healing techniques from around the world, such as 'Active Finger Holds' from Indonesia.
For more about the aims and objectives of SIMHNE, an e-mail contact address, together with news of future meetings and seminars, please visit http://www.simhne.co.uk/

Gratitude Awakens the True Self
“The road to happiness starts with a deep breath and an awareness of the many blessings tied to that single breath.” ― Richelle E. Goodrich
We might think that to live in grace requires us to pursue a devout lifestyle and retreat from the world. However, we have learned that grace abides in all things, all places, and all times. If we go beyond our changing personalities to connect with our essential self, we contact this ever-present grace and can live this state of grace even in the everyday world.
Our true self is peaceful, but not inert. It is intelligent, powerful, and intimately involved in our every wish and dream. The true self has the creative power and intelligence to direct and manifest your life's journey. When you step into and participate with life from this level, you are always grateful and find grace everywhere.
